WHAT’S THIS SONG ABOUT? The song is told from the POV of Brian’s father, William Carpenter, who grew up working on a watermelon farmer in the rural panhandle of Florida.
WHY DID YOU SELECT THIS TRACK TO SUBMIT TO THE IMAs? This song is one of the first songs Brian wrote for the album. It might fit into the “Alt/Country” genre. Or it might not.
WHAT MAKES YOUR FANS UNIQUE? The fans are really what make this band continue. They’re completely dedicated and loyal and come to all our shows. They’re very invested in the songs. We’re very lucky to have the fans we do.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO PLAY? The most fun shows, and these are becoming rarer, are basement shows or house parties, that’s where it can really start to become like a religious experience, in the best sense.
WHAT’S IN THE WORKS FOR 2010? Hopefully more touring and working on our next album, which is called These Wicked Things.
