What’s the meaning of your band name? (D)ivinely! (I)nspired! (V)ictoriously! (A)nnointed! No contenders. This one was divinely appointed!
Describe your nominated work: This song tells about the gratitude that we share because of the grace of god! Had he not saved us, there is no telling what would have become of us — all of us! And we love him 4 that!
Why did you choose to submit this work to The 10th IMA’s?: The IMA’s represent what we love about being independent – freedom to be the best we can be – on our terms!
Did you use any unusual effects or instruments in this recording? No
Were there any happy accidents while in the studio, or did everything go as planned? Many good things. God was constantly unveiling beats, riffs, and rhymes – even true personalities (lol)! It went as god instructed us, and that was 1-2-3!
Did fans help you fund this project? No
Who’s sitting in your audience? Grandmas and grandpas, babies, teens –- God has really blessed us! For example, we recently did a show and the promoters held us to the very end. In front of us sat a 90-yr-old lady who turned to us and said: “Psst! They are saving the best for last, and I am waiting!”
Then there are the children who wear our t-shirts and emulate our show routines — both at the shows and on the internet. Mind blowing!
What makes your fans unique? They always show up. They are relentless.
Are there any songs you wish you wrote? “Resurrection” (Gospel Hi-Lites), “He Saw the Best in Me” (Marvin Sapp), “Singing This Song For You” (Donny Hathaway), “Can’t Buy Me Love” (The Beatles), “Nobody Greater” (Vashawn Mitchell), “Blessings” (Rance Allen & John P Kee), “My Soul is Anchored in Jesus” (Douglas Miller), “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now” (McFadden & Whitehead)
What artists are you listening to that would surprise your fans? Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Nora Jones, John Meyer, Vince Gill, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood and Michael Jackson.
What is your dream show lineup?: Divas Redemption featuring Paul Smith, Prince, Soul Seekers, Stevie Wonder, Rance Allen, Ledesi, Clark Sisters, Eric Clapton, Kim Burell, and Aretha Franklin –wow!
What is your guilty pleasure on the road? Listening to great music. Eating!! Singing, sleeping and lots of laughing.
Any close calls or mishaps while on tour? Tire blew. That’s it, Thank God!
Do you have any rituals before you go on stage? Prayer!…and that’s all we need!
Should music be free? No. We are artists. We create, develop and exploit our music. Many people depend on it for their livelihood.
how has digital affected your career? The possibilities are endless. For example, digital project studios and the internet have leveled the playing field for indies.
Are digital singles vs. Full albums the future of music? A definite yes.
Finish this sentence: The music industry is… evolving, hopefully for the better.
