WHERE WAS THE ALBUM RECORDED? It was recorded at Kingsize Soundlabs in Eagle Rock, and in our producer Steven McDonald’s practice space and home.
WHICH GENRES BEST DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC? I like to call it Pop/Rock with a bit of Broadway and Soul.
WHAT’S THE SONG “ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS” ABOUT? It’s about being in a situation but still not really being a part of it. Thinking of someone from your past and your ideal version of them, which nobody else can ever compare to.

WHAT UNUSUAL INSTRUMENTS OR TECHNIQUES DID YOU USE ON THIS ALBUM? When we brought this song into the studio, it was a five-minute Roy Orbison style epic. It was awful and made no sense. We chopped it up, cut all the fat out of it. We tried to make it as streamline and catchy as possible. Then, we slathered it in Disco-style strings, threw some castanets in there, and stacked up Queen-style vocal harmonies.
WHAT MAKES YOUR FANS UNIQUE? They’re just so thorough, so kind and so devoted. Not only do they sing along to everything-even songs that aren’t recorded yet- but they even bake us giant Rice Krispies treats, decorated with our album cover in frosting.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO PLAY? I love playing in Michigan.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE BAND’S MOST MEMORABLE ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE? I think just forming at all was our most memorable thing. Learning to play music together and realizing that playing with your two best friends can be a genuinely joyous experience.
WHAT’S IN THE WORKS FOR 2010? Lots and lots of touring.

WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF SUCCESS? Upgrading from a cup of soup to a bowl.
WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD THAT WOULD SURPRISE YOUR FANS? I think our fans would be most surprised to know that we mostly listen to prank call recordings (Earles and Jensen) or the radio. There’s so much good stuff on the radio. We love Taylor Swift, Lady GaGa, Beyonce… basically any solid Pop music.
NAME SOME ARTISTS YOU ARE CHAMPIONING: I love Discovery, The Pop Project, Miniature Tigers, and Ladylike. They all deserve everything good and shiny in the world.
