WHERE WAS SONG RECORDED? David Lange Studios near Seattle, Washington
WHICH GENRES BEST DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC? Gypsy Jazz
WHAT’S THIS SONG ABOUT? “Pulse” is about the underlying beat behind the music and melody- the pulse that gives life to music.
WHY DID YOU SELECT THIS TRACK TO SUBMIT TO THE IMAs? We thought it was strong and it highlighted all the band members.
WHAT UNUSUAL INSTRUMENTS OR TECHNIQUES DID YOU USE ON THIS SONG? The whole song was one take–we didn’t splice or patch takes together, or do any dubbing.
WHERE IS YOUR MUSIC AVAILABLE? CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/RangerandtheReArrangers
DID FANS HELP FUND THIS PROJECT? Not a direct investment, but it would have been impossible without their financial support once it became available–at our release party, especially.
WHO IS SITTING IN YOUR AUDIENCE: Eclectic fans, barely old enough to walk fans, old enough to remember the golden age of Jazz fans and everything in between.
WHAT MAKES YOUR FANS UNIQUE? Their dedication in supporting us, showing up at gigs far from home when we least expect it and their incredible attention at shows.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO PLAY? The Seattle area and Washington State has many wonderful “Concerts in the Park” or “Concerts on the Waterfront” series that are always a treat. Colleges, as well.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE BAND’S MOST MEMORABLE ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE? Probably the completion of our CD, Django’s Tiger–the second for the band, and first with the amazing group we have now.
WHAT’S IN THE WORKS FOR 2010? More of the same! We’re hoping to play over 60 shows in 2010. We’ve applied to Djangofest Northwest, the biggest Gypsy Jazz festival in the USA.
FINISH THIS SENTENCE: THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS… Basically an unknown to us; we’re still just getting started.
WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF SUCCESS? Getting to play as much as we can for as long as we can, and spreading our music to new fans.
WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD THAT WOULD SURPRISE YOUR FANS? The sheer randomness- I have it on shuffle right now, and I just heard Paul Anka, then Black Sabbath, an Avril Lavigne cover by Ben Gibbard, Django Reinhardt, All American Rejects and now Kate Nash.
