Eligibility


Submissions to The 10th Annual Independent Music Awards will be accepted from December 2009 thru the final postmark deadline: Midnight, October 1, 2010
  • Any indie label release distributed by either an independent or major label distributor
  • Any self-produced, self-distributed recording
  • All submissions in the Song categories must be original compositions; the only exception is the Cover Song category
  • Album category submissions can have a combination of original and cover songs
  • Music submissions must be associated with Albums or Songs released between June 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010
  • Submission for Live Performance category refers to any Album recorded during a concert performance and released between June 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010
  • Any Album Package created exclusively for projects released between June 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010
  • Any photographic image used for Album Packaging photography, including booklet or back panel tray card, for titles released between June 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010
  • Any Website created to promote a solo artist/band, independent record label or music business company
  • Any Poster created for an artist, band or venue to promote an event that occurred between June 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010
  • Any artist or band Publicity Photo used to promote an artist or band to press or other media outlets
  • Any individual article of merchandise (t-shirt, hat, mug, bumper sticker, kazoo, etc.) created exclusively for the band or album being promoted
  • College Record Label – Album entries must be a full-length album released on a record label maintained and operated by a University either in the U.S. or Internationally
  • Songs entered in the Film, TV, Gaming & Multimedia category must have appeared in a production released between June 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010
  • Music Video Category: One music video created to promote a song released between June 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010
  • Any Concert Photo taken of an artist or band in performance

GENERAL PROGRAM RULES

  • Submit as many entries as you wish.
  • Each entry must include a separate Entry Form.
  • Each entry must be accompanied by a $30.00 check or money order payable in U.S. Funds. Credit card payments are also accepted.
  • Be certain to include the Category Code for each entry.
  • For Album categories one entry = one complete, full-length album.
  • For Song categories one entry = 2 songs (Please remember to identify the song titles on IMA entry form, on the disc submitted, or in the EPK custom submission information.)
  • For the Song categories, the two songs submitted must be in the same category. Use a separate entry form to submit songs to other IMA categories.
  • For Song Used in Film, TV, Multimedia category one entry = 1 song that is included in a commercial or independent production shown in theaters, on television, in gaming, a multimedia production or used for other audio/visual exhibition.
  • For Album – Live Performance category one entry = one full-length album recorded in its entirety in front of a live audience.
  • For Music Video categories, one entry = 1 music video created to promote a song or long form presentation released between June 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010.
  • For Album Packaging design category, one entry = 1 complete album cover with disc including jewel case, DigiPak cover and other packaging components specific to the project.
  • For Album Art Photography category one entry = the album cover, booklet or back panel card containing the photographic image to be considered with the photo clearly indicated.
  • For Band/Venue Poster category one entry = 1 poster created for an artist, band or concert venue.
  • For Artist/Band Publicity Photo and Concert Photography categories one entry = an 8 x 10 black & white/color print or a electronic file included with entry form.
  • For Swag (Merchandising) design category one entry = 1 item of merchandising (poster, t-shirt, hat, bumper sticker, poster, etc.)
  • For Band Website, Indie Record Label Website and Music Business Website categories one entry = the site homepage URL indicated in the appropriate area on the entry form.
  • Each entry must be clearly marked with the name of the artist and the one music or design category for which it is to be considered.
  • A completed entry form (or photocopy) must accompany each submission.
  • We recommend having your material copyrighted in order to protect your work.
  • A $30.00 PROCESSING FEE MUST ACCOMPANY EACH ENTRY.
  • Entry deadline: Midnight, October 1, 2010.
