WHICH GENRES BEST DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC? Contemporary Christian, Christian Rock, Alternative
WHAT’S THIS SONG ABOUT? The importance of staying true to our commitment to God, regardless of what is going on around us, or of other people’s opinions, and the joy of being able to lift our praises to God and join others in worshiping Him.
WHY DID YOU SELECT THIS TRACK TO SUBMIT TO THE IMAs? We felt that this song embodies what Katalyst stands for. We always seek to focus our intentions on bringing glory and praise to our Heavenly Father. It speaks of our walk and how others may view Christians from time to time, but our purpose and goal is to encourage others to find joy in their worship.
WHAT UNUSUAL INSTRUMENTS OR TECHNIQUES DID YOU USE ON THIS ALBUM? We really used standard methods to record the song but we used a wide variety of amps and effects to achieve the sound that we thought was appropriate for the feel and the message of the song. The song structure is pretty typical, V-C-V-C-B-C, but the chord choices and signature riff help to keep “woah” moving along and interesting.
DID FANS HELP FUND THIS PROJECT? Yes, through donations and revenue from previous concert appearances.
WHO IS SITTING IN YOUR AUDIENCE? Our audience is typically very involved in our concerts. They often come to the front of the stage and sing and dance along with our music. They vary in ages from elementary school age to senior adults. We have played for crowds as small as six people or as large as 1000. Generally, our audience is of Contemporary Christian persuasion, buy we have had quite a bid of success in independent Christian Country radio stations as well. We love to play to as varied a crowd as possible and count all of our fans as friends.
WHAT MAKES YOUR FANS UNIQUE? The various age groups that come to our concerts are really unique. We have fans that are young children, all the way up to senior citizens. We hope that our music speaks to any generation.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO PLAY? Multi –day youth events are one of our favorite places to play. This gives us a chance to hang out with our audience and get to know them. It is always so much fun to worship with people you have actually gotten a chance to talk to and spend time with.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE BAND’S MOST MEMORABLE ACHIEVEMENT TO DATE? Playing on the internationally televised ICM Award Show in October of this year was really a highlight for us. We were on the show with Ricky Skaggs, Jason Crabb, Point of Grace, and an awesome Bluegrass band called Cherryholmes, among others.
WHAT’S IN THE WORKS FOR 2010? We are in the process of writing more music and hope to get into the studio and produce a full length album. We also would love to tour and play for as many events as we can.
FINISH THIS SENTENCE: THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS…..Ever-changing! There are incredible opportunities that exist for musicians that have never existed before, and the possibility of getting out there and putting your music before the public is better than it has ever been for the independent musician.
WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF SUCCESS? Making a difference in someone’s life through our songs and our pursuit of God’s call.
WHAT’S ON YOUR IPOD THAT WOULD SURPRISE YOUR FANS? Lots of Jazz, Blues, Funk, Classic Rock and old Disney cartoon movie tunes.
NAME SOME ARTISTS YOU ARE CHAMPIONING: Our independent friends: Tori Vasquez, Alissa Beyer, Ross Cooper.
